Medartis Inc.’s StealthFix™ Intraosseous Fixation System Achieves First Clinical Use

Medartis, an orthopaedic company specializing in upper and lower extremity solutions with US headquarters based in Warsaw, IN, today announced a favorable first clinical use of its StealthFix™ Intraosseous Fixation.

Warsaw, IN, September 16, 2022 – Medartis, an orthopaedic company specializing in upper and lower extremity solutions with US headquarters based in Warsaw, IN, today announced a favorable first clinical use of its StealthFix™ Intraosseous Fixation. The fully intraosseous implant is the third product to achieve the first clinical use benchmark in the US market in the past three months.

StealthFix is a zero-profile intraosseous fixation solution with multiple applications1 in the fore- and midfoot. Designed to provide the strength of a plate and screw2 with the speed and profile of a staple, the unique StealthFix I-beam design can also accommodate a crossing screw for additional compression and off-axis fixation. This rigid construct helps surgeons meet the fixation requirements of the patient without sacrificing soft tissue integrity.

The patented StealthFix system is designed to provide intraosseous compression through the implant which provides strong bone-to-bone apposition, as well as its cortical barbs, designed to prevent back-out and migration3. Unlike standard plate and screw constructs, StealthFix’s zero profile design helps minimize soft tissue irritation while accommodating variations in the patient’s dorsal bony topography.

Ned Amendola, MD, professor in the Department of Orthopedic Surgery at Duke University, utilized the StealthFix system for primary fixation as part of a Lapidus procedure and shared his impressions:

“I was pleased with the intraoperative flexibility and secure fixation the system afforded,” he said. “The SteathFix staple provided more rigid fixation than a standard staple4 and obviously avoids any hardware prominence in this area of the foot.”

StealthFix is one of several products currently in limited launch by Medartis in the US. The company is showcasing a preview of the system, along with a full range of foot and ankle solutions, at the American Orthopaedic Foot and Ankle Society’s annual meeting in Quebec City, Canada, from September 14-17 in booth #821.

Medartis Inc., a fully owned subsidiary of Medartis AG., is the legal manufacturer of the StealthFix Intraosseous Fixation System. To see the latest product news and announcements from Medartis Inc., please visit www.medartisusa.com.
